Ordering Emblems

There are several steps involved in ordering items from Emblem Concepts. This section of the web site provides specific details on this process. Please review and complete the steps below and click on the associated links for additional information.

1. DETERMINE SIZE
Pricing size is determined by adding the height plus the width and dividing by two. If this is an uneven measurement, round up to the next 1/2". For instance if your answer is 2.25", round up to the 2.5" pricing size. Click the button below to open a window which gives examples of how to properly measure your desired embroidery image.

2. DETERMINE PERCENTAGE OF EMBROIDERY
Percentage of embroidery is generally considered to be the percentage of the emblem covered by embroidery; however, that is not always the case. We would like to recommend that you use the samples shown below (and additional links) to help you determine the correct percentage of embroidery. The final determination is made by the factory.

3. SELECT TYPE OF BACKING
Emblem Concepts offers several backing options for emblems.

· SEW ON BACKING - This buckrum backing is standard on all embroidered emblems.

· THERMOPLASTIC BACKING - This backing is suggested if the emblems are to be handed out loosely, such as for souvenirs. It is designed as a reinforcement to hold threads and background material together firmly. THIS IS NOT A HEAT SEAL BACKING. This backing is routinely used on law enforcement, fire department or municipal emblems.

· PRESSURE SENSITIVE - This is a temporary backing that allows the emblem to be applied and later removed from almost any surface. Pressure sensitive backing is generally recommended for appliques only. THIS IS NOT A PERMANENT BACKING.

· VELCRO® - This backing can be applied with either the hook or loop sides or both sides of the Velcro® up to a 4" emblem.

· NUMBER OF COLORS - Prices include up to nine thread colors in addition to the merrowed border color. Additional colors are available for an extra charge.

· WAX BORDERS - Most irregular shaped emblems cannot have the standard merrowed border applied. In those instances we strongly recommend adding a wax border. Wax borders provide a smooth, ravel-free border for irregular shaped emblems that cannot be merrowed. This is standard on appliques. This must be used in conjunction with heat seal, pressure sensitive or thermoplastic backing.

· MULTIPLE COLOR COMBINATIONS - Ordering multiple color combinations of the same emblem offers savings of both time and money. For instance, if you want 500 total emblems with 200 pieces in subdued colors to match camouflage hats and 300 pieces to match navy blue coveralls, you would price this as a 500 piece order and add additional charges as necessary. You may choose to change the background material only, the border color only, the embroidery colors only or all three portions of the emblem. Additional charges depend on which portions are changed.

· COLORFAST THREADS - Standard threads are rayon and although they are colorfast to normal laundering, they are not colorfast to chlorine bleach. We have colorfast polyester threads available for these instances. These threads are guaranteed to withstand chlorine bleach and are especially recommended in cases where emblems will be commercially laundered.

· METALLIC THREADS - Gold and Silver metallic threads are available. We do not recommend the use of metallic threads for the merrowed border as this thread tends to break easily. These are available for an additional charge.

· NEON THREADS - Neon threads, available in many colors, help add excitement to any emblem.

· FELT BACKGROUNDS - We have several felt background colors available for an additional charge. Please contact us for availability.
